You want to remember your wedding day don’t you? Stupid question, maybe.

But how do you do it?

Get a wedding album and wall art.

In this blog post I’m going to give you a few tips on how to trigger  your memories of your wedding day, and how to do this for the rest of your life.

The Wedding Album – this is so critical. In this digital age we have 1000s of pictures sitting in our phones and computers and when do you look at them? Rarely? Never?

Your wedding album is so so important to you, your friends and family.

Why? let me explain.

Your album is a beautiful product sitting proudly on your coffee table or in your bookcase. You sit down to relax and have a cup of coffee with your partner. You glance over at your wedding album and guess what? You smile. You nudge your partner and say “remember?”. The response…”of course I do”. You are both transported back in time to that amazing day.

How much are these memories worth to you? I don’t mean in the money sense, but in the feel good way. Having an album in your home means your memories are triggered day in day out. It will make you smile and feel great every time you see it.

Have you ever looked at your parent’s wedding album? I have and it brings a smile to my face every time I do.

At a recent wedding I photographed and before she put on her dress, Beth took the time to look at her parents album and her smile was amazing. Was she thinking I want an album like this? I want to be able to remember my day like this as well?

When you have been at a friends house and their wedding album is on display, have you felt the urge to have a look?

The point I am making is that you must ask your photographer to include an album in their package. The album triggers the memories and you do not want to forget all those details, smiles, laughter and the love.

You need to have a wedding album that is professionally made. Why?

It will last a lifetime, thats why. The photos will not come unstuck and fall out. It is like a work of art that you will want to put it on show. Your friends and family will want to look at it, often, as will you.

The wedding album should tell your story of the day, from getting ready to the first dance. It will contain photos of all those little details that you put so much effort into. It will show the love of you and your partner, your family and friends.

There is nothing like flipping through an album, holding it in your hands, and I can tell you that your album is like an heirloom. It will last a lifetime and beyond. Your children will love to browse through it. You will have those wonderful pictures of friends and family who are no longer with us.

Whilst we are on the subject of triggering memories, I bet you have actual photos in your home, maybe stuck to your fridge. What if you had a a picture that is 30 inches square hanging in your home that contained about 10 of your favourite photos from your wedding? This is what we photographers call a montage or wall art.

How would you feel when you walked into your home after a tough day and saw your montage, saw your smile, saw your partner’s smile, saw your parents laughing and your friends having fun? Well it would make you smile, make you feel a lot better, and your memories of that tough day would soon go.

So how do you get all of this this? Ask your photographer. Get him to design your album and your montage. Make sure that both are included in your package.

I wouldn’t advise that you put together your own album as those digital photos may just sit on your hard drive whilst you get around to it. You’re going to have to learn how to use the programme. Do you really want to do this?

I have a friend who got married over 6 years ago and still does not have an album, and she still regrets not having her photographer design and create the album for her.

Many wedding photographers will design and then arrange for it to be put together by a specialist firm, as do I, and as part of a package they might say that a certain number of “spreads” (2 pages) are included in your package and extra spreads are an additional cost.

But listen up, you’ve already  paid for the wedding and  any extra spreads could be paid from any wedding money you were given, or as a wedding gift friends and family can buy extra spreads for you.

Do you want this? Then let’s schedule a chat as I know you will have many more questions that you want answered.
